Fire strikes at Pa. corrections facility

No inmates were affected but a storage building was destroyed

BRADFORD COUNTY — Three buildings have been charred at the New River Correctional Institution in Bradford County, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

Bradford County Emergency Management reports on its Facebook page that no inmates were affected but a storage building was destroyed.

Firefighters arrived on scene about 3:30 a.m., Bradford County Emergency Management public information officer Michael Heeder said.

He told First Coast News the buildings are vacant and across the street from the main facility in the 7800 block of Northwest 228th Street.
