MIAMI — The Florida Department of Corrections transparency database shows 30 inmate deaths have been investigated from the Charlotte Correctional Institution during the past 14 years.
Four of those deaths remain under investigation. The D.O.C. released data after mounting accusations of violence reported inside Florida’s prisons.
Such as one last April - CCI inmate Matthew Walker was handcuffed inside his cell, beaten and died. His death is still listed among the four active investigations in Charlotte County.
