LAKEWOOD — A former New Jersey corrections officer fatally shot himself at the Shore Shot Pistol Range on Monday.
The man’s name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, but the 32-year-old reportedly worked at the New Jersey State Prison from 2007 until his firing in 2013, according to NJ.com.
The man was fired for “various leaves since November 2012,” and more information was not available.
Police were called to the gun range on Monday around 2:50 p.m., where they determined that the man had died of a self-inflicted gunshot.
This is the third self-inflicted gunfire at the Shore Shot Pistol Range in four months.
