SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A ceremony in Springfield, Ill. honored the men and women who died in the line of duty during their service to state corrections.
According to WICS, both the Ill. DOC and Department of Juvenile Justice held their memorial wall service on Tuesday.
Rose Geralds attends the service every year in memory of her sister, who was killed while working in an Ill. prison.
“These people keep doing this every year,” she said. “Usually something like this, it’s forgotten. But here, it’s not. They keep it up every year. They’re so nice to everybody and so respectful.”
