BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Fourteen inmates in Illinois are accused of being involved in a fight where two corrections officers were hit on the head. Only one of the COs was injured.
Prosecutors say the inmates are charged with obstructing a correctional employee — two are also accused of aggravated battery, according to The Associated Press.
The charges are from an incident on December 17 in which the inmates formed a barricade around another inmate, trying to prevent the guards from removing that inmate from the cellblock.
If convicted, the inmates could earn another three years in prison for the obstruction count and a possible seven years for aggravated battery.
