WESTMINSTER, Md. — A Westminster man convicted of assault Tuesday was charged after police say he sprayed shaving gel into a correctional officer’s face from his cell.
John Anthony Kidwell III, 26, of no fixed address, is being held on an additional $10,000 bond for second-degree assault, according to electronic court files.
Kidwell was sentenced to four years in prison with all but nine months suspended Tuesday for a November 2014 assault, according to electronic court files.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kidwell was in his cell at the Carroll County Detention Center when he allegedly sprayed a liquid onto the face of a correctional deputy, according to charging documents.
The liquid was identified as the shaving gel given to inmates, according to the documents.
A deputy from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spoke with Kidwell, who said he was angry about his sentencing that morning and squirted the shave gel at the correctional deputy when he saw him walk by, according to the documents.
Kidwell also said he was sick of the detention center and would rather be at a state Division of Corrections facility or a rehab center, according to the documents.
