ST. LOUIS — A jail inmate stabbed another inmate and struggled with corrections workers on Thursday, St. Louis Police said.
The incident happened at 11:33 a.m. at the Justice Center at 200 South Tucker Boulevard. Police said the 42-year-old inmate had to be subdued with a Taser by an officer who responded and found him fighting with several jail officers.
The inmate had used a homemade weapon against another inmate, 59, who sustained a puncture wound to the neck and a laceration to the forearm, police said. That inmate was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The weapon was recovered.
Two correctional officers who struggled with the inmate also sustained cuts. The officers were treated by an doctor on duty at the jail.
The suspect was also taken to a local hospital. His condition and that of the other inmate were not released.
Police are investigating the incident and no charges have yet been filed.
