SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A man already in jail is facing more charges after threatening a Greene County corrections officer in a note. Court documents say Gregory Morton Jr. is jailed for not registering as a convicted sex offender.
Investigators say a guard found the note on the floor. They say security video showed Morton writing on a yellow sheet of paper, then sliding the paper under his cell door. The note read the corrections officer was going to die for mistreating Morton.
Morton is is now charged with misdemeanor harassment.
