Comedian John Oliver’s latest segment on his show “Last Week Tonight” focused on America’s broken prison system.
His rant covered a lot of ground, including the growing population of prisoners in the U.S., racism, solitary confinement and sexual assault, to name a few.
Overall, Oliver called out Americans for generally sweeping the problems under the rug and looking the other way.
“The rest of us are much happier completely ignoring it, perhaps because it’s so easy not to care about prisoners.”
