BELL COUNTY, Ky. — Investigators in Bell County say two inmates made a daring escape attempt from the county jail in Pineville.
Around 9:30 p.m. Monday, dispatch received a call about two inmates beating corrections officers.
Dispatcher: “911.”
Caller: “Hey, I need officers over here at the Bell County Detention Center now. We got people trying to escape.”
Caller: “They’re beating my officers to death.”
Dispatcher: “Ok, how many.. How many are there?”
Caller: “There’s the whole cell of 129. There’s 5 guys out.”
While a jail employee made the frantic call for help, cameras inside captured a violent scene unfolding. A still image from surveillance video shows 26-year-old inmate, Christopher Dixon, a man charged in a machete attack, holding a broken broom handle, the jailer said.
