LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections released the name of the correctional officer involved in two shootings Thursday afternoon.

WDRB reports that John Hagan of the Home Incarceration Unit was the officer responsible for shooting Michael Anthony Thornton, 31, and a second person. Hagan was attempting to apprehend Thornton when Thornton got in his vehicle and turned the car “in an aggressive manner” toward Hagan.

Both Thornton and the second person, who was a passenger in the car, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Thornton remains hospitalized and is expected to face additional charges.

Hagan, a 14-year veteran with the department, is currently on administrative leave following the shootings, and the Louisville Metro Police Public Integrity Unit is investigating.
