LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man who attempted to run over a correctional officer during arrest is now facing new charges.
Michael Thornton was arraigned Monday for escape and other charges, according to WLKY.
He had been serving a home incarceration sentence for assault, burglary and other counts when he cut off his monitoring device and skipped a court hearing last month.
Officer John Hagan was dispatched to arrest him, and Thornton attempted to run him over outside of a grocery store. Thornton was shot by Hagan, along with another passenger in the car.
Hagan is currently on paid administrative leave and Thornton is being held on $25,000 bond.
