BRDIGEWATER TWP, Mich. — The name of the officer has been released. Correctional officer Chad Hilborn was killed in a two-car crash around 7:45 a.m. this morning.
“It is with great sorrow and deep sadness that the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office informs you of the death of WCSO Corrections Officer Chad Hilborn,” said Derrick Jackson, WCSO spokesman, reports MLive.
Hilborn is survived by his wife, a dispatcher, and their two children.
Hilborn’s vehicle, traveling west, appears to have crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Ford traveling east. Hilborn was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the truck was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.
Both men were wearing seat belts and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to police.

BRDIGEWATER TWP, Mich. — A Friday morning accident has left one dead and one in critical condition, reports MLive.
The man killed in the vehicle collision was a correctional officer at the Washtenaw County Jail. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. near the corner of Michigan Avenue and Arkona Road in Bridgewater Township.
State police are expected to release more information later this afternoon.
