Mt. corrections officer attacked during transport

The 60-year-old officer was only 17 days away from retirement

MISSOULA, Mt. — A Missoula corrections officer was attacked and hospitalized in the process of transporting an inmate to prison.

The officer, aged 60, was only 17 days from retirement when inmate Justin Dwayne King beat him in the face, according to KPAX.

King has been in the media before, for beating another man with a steel pipe over a pork chop sandwich. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the attack.

He will face new charges of felony assault on a peace officer and felony assault with a weapon.

There’s no word on the condition of the officer.
