Neb. bill would renovate, expand prisons

LINCOLN — A new bill would spend more than $261 million on correctional facilities to help address issues within the prison system.

WOWT reports that the cost is based on the recommendation of the 2014 Nebraska Department of Correction Services Master Plan Report.

LB237, the bill, represents Phase 1 of the report.

The DOC reports that the state’s institutions grew by 19 inmates per month, or 228 each year.
