RENO, Nevada — A web-based inmate visitation system was successfully piloted at the jail in Washoe County, Nevada.
The system improves security, reduces visitor travel, and raises money for the inmate welfare fund, according to the National Institute of Corrections.
Visitors can access the system from their computers, cell phones or tablets.
After two years of use, the number of on-site visits and web visits are about equal, with expectations that web visits will continue to increase.
