GLOUCESTER COUNTY — A Gloucester County Department of Corrections road gang, and the officers who secure the group, have nabbed some unconventional attention from county and municipal leaders.
Six prisoners and supervising corrections officers were given a pat on the back last month by county freeholders for efforts to spruce up a Williamstown POW-MIA war memorial.
Officers Andrew McClave and Cassel Ellis are expected to receive a freeholder board proclamation this month.
McClave, of Williamstown, noticed for “quite some time” that the memorial at the Pfeiffer Center was “in bad shape.”
The memorial was “sinking,” McClave, a 15-year officer, said.
