GREEN HAVEN — Green Haven Correctional Facility remained on lockdown this evening after an inmate assaulted a correction officer Saturday, according to state officials.
Acting Commissioner Anthony Annucci ordered the lockdown after a correction officer was struck in the face by an inmate, Thomas Mailey, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, said in a written statement.
Mailey said the assault was an “isolated Incident” and confirmed the prison was still on lockdown Saturday night as authorities search for contraband.
The inmate was subdued by several correction officers, Mailey said.
