COOK COUNTY — An off-duty Cook County correctional officer was shot in the leg Monday night in an alley behind his mother’s Little Village home, authorities said.

The man, who was wearing his uniform, was in an alley with his son near the 2800 block of South Tripp Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when someone in a minivan shot him, then fled north in the alley.
