RAYMOND, Miss. — A law enforcement official says at least two detention officers have been injured in a disturbance at a Hinds County jail.
Hinds County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Othor Cain tells WLBT-TV and WJTV-TV that an inmate on Thursday night “made contact” with two officers, injuring them. He says the officers were hospitalized, and their injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.
Cain didn’t immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment.
WJTV reports one part of the detention center was put on lockdown Thursday as investigators assessed the situation.
Calls to the center rang unanswered. No further details were immediately available.
