HAMILTON, Ohio — Warren County Correctional Institution announced Monday the prison’s correction officer and employee of the year.

Staff voted for long-time Warren County resident Gary Allen, a registered nurse and quality improvement coordinator at the facility, to be named 2014’s employee of the year. Allen has worked with the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections for 25 years and was promoted to his position last year.

“Gary is a veteran employee who does an outstanding job. He has been a wonderful mentor to fellow staff members,” Warden George Crutchfield said in a statement.

Corrections Officer Andy Tribbey was also named 2014’s officer of the year by his peers, according to a statement released Monday by the prison. He has worked as a corrections officer at Warren Correctional Institution since 2006 and is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Cincinnati.

“I am honored that my fellow officers and other staff felt that I should be the one to represent (Warren Correctional),” Tribbey said in a statement.

Tribbey will compete with other corrections officers across Ohio for the state’s top award, called the Ronald Marshall Award, which will be given May 2.
