PRATTVILLE, Okla. — An escaped inmate led police on a high-speed chase that ended with a bang.

FOX news reports that Ronald Thomas is being hospitalized for serious injuries after he was thrown from a motorcycle and rolled on the pavement for 250 yards.

Thomas walked out of the minimum-security Jackie Brannon Correctional Facility earlier this week.

Police said the chase reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour before Thomas attempted to pass a truck who was attempting to yield to police officer’s squads.

“He tried to pass it on the right, but the truck was pulling to the right to yield to the on-coming officer in the pursuit,” Lt. Kevin O’Keefe said. “It’s likely she saw the officers, but she didn’t see the motorcycle.”

After hitting the truck, the motorcycle began to disintegrate. Police found parts scattered over a 400-foot area.

Thomas was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was stabilized. He suffered injuries to his head, arms and body, but he is expected to survive. He will face additional charges for the escape, chase and crash once he recovers.
