GREENSBURG, Pa. — Butler County commissioners on Wednesday approved new contracts for the county’s prison guards, assistant district attorneys and public defenders.

The three-year contracts cover 98 corrections officers and 10 assistant district attorneys and public defenders.

Corrections officers will receive a 2.5 percent raise this year, retroactive to July 1. Assistant district attorneys and public defenders will receive the same pay hike, retroactive to Jan. 1.

All 108 employees will receive a 3 percent increase in both 2016 and 2017.

The two sides agreed to the contracts via arbitration, meaning commissioners were required to accept the terms.
