BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A retired corrections officer fatally shot a man Tuesday night inside a Brooklyn subway station.
Around 6:45 p.m., on the mezzanine level of the Borough Hall subway station in Brooklyn, the retired officer got involved in some type of altercation and identified himself as law enforcement, then fire at a man.
Norman Seabrook, president of the New York City Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, said the shooter was about to be robbed by the shooting victim. The suspect was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital where he later died.
The incident “appears to be self-defense,” according to Seabrook.
