DRAPER, Utah — Separate inmate assaults prompted a lockdown Saturday morning of a portion of the Utah State Prison in Draper.
The Utah Department of Corrections says the lockdown of the Uinta Facility was lifted by 4:15 p.m. Saturday and visitation will resume on a regular schedule Sunday.
The department says one inmate stabbed another inmate during recreation time at 6:30 a.m., sending one of them to the prison infirmary for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
About 90 minutes later, two inmates fought in their cell in a different section of the Uinta Facility and one inmate was stabbed many times. He was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Prison officials declined to release the inmates’ names.
