SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A highway sign was unveiled Friday to commemorate the service of a fallen California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officer.
The Press-Enterprise reports that two copies of the sign for CO Gilbert Cortez will be posted next week on the I-15.
Cortez was traveling on a routine assignment with his K-9 Mattie when his car ran off the side of the road, killing them both.
