ODESSA, Texas — The Middleton Prison Unit plans to build a memorial plaque to be placed at their transportation building in honor of the two officers who died in a recent bus wreck.
The Big Country Homepage reports that the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has seen an outpouring of support from the community since the crash.
Prison facilities throughout the state have been raising money for the victim’s families and have sent flowers to the Middleton facility.
Plans are in the works for a memorial ceremony to be held at the prison for officers Christopher Davis and Eligio Garcia.
An investigation into the crash is still underway.
The third officer involved in the crash, Jason Self, remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Four inmates were recently released after being treated for their injuries and have since been moved to other facilities.
