Union: 6 officers injured by 2 inmates at Upstate NY prisons

According to the union, the altercations illustrate the “rapid pace” of assaults at New York’s prisons

MARCY, N.Y. — Within one week, six corrections officers were injured during two altercations with Oneida County inmates.

The incidents -- which occurred at two medium-security prison in Marcy -- left officers with injuries ranging from minor ailments to broken ribs, reported the state Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association. And according to the union, the altercations illustrate the “rapid pace” of assaults at New York’s prisons.

The first incident occurred on June 18 at the Marcy Correctional Facility, said James Miller, the union’s director of public relations.
