EDINBURG, Texas — A woman walked into the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office with a gun on Tuesday, apparently hoping to commit ‘suicide by cop.’
The Monitor reports that Marisela Martinez Zamora, 53, walked into the public area of the releasing section of the jail and told staff that she had a gun. She reportedly asked deputies to kill her.
Bystanders fled the building while officials used a TASER on Zamora, which immobilized her and allowed officers to take her weapon and restrain her.
The gun turned out to be an airsoft pistol.
No one was harmed during the incident, and Zamora is expected to be examined. She will be facing charges.
