UPDATE 4:57 PDT 4/23/14: The officer has been identified by WOIO as Joe Lynn.
WARREN, Ohio — Breaking news reports that a Trumbull County Jail corrections officer has been taken hostage by three inmates.
One of the inmates, David Martin, who faces a murder charge, called a Cleveland TV station to say that he has “nothing to lose” and “wants his story told,” according to the NY Daily News. He told the TV station that he had a shank to the officer’s throat.
The CO being held hostage has been identified as Joe Lynn, according to WOIO. A hostage negotiator is on the scene and talking with the inmates, and the FBI has dispatched a tactical team.
WFMJ reports that at 3:30 p.m., the inmates tackled the CO and handcuffed him on the third floor of the jail.

According to WKBN, the other inmates involved in the situation are Richard Ware, currently serving time for aggravated robbery, and Kevin Johns, serving time on kidnapping and rape charges.
The inmates are holding the officer in a pod area and have barricaded the doors by tying the handles shut with sheets. The sheets are connected to tables, making it so if anyone attempts to open the door, the sheets cinch tighter.
