BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A mother of three who was fatally stabbed Sunday in an apparent domestic violence incident was sworn in as a corrections officer two days earlier, officials said.

Miranda Sage Milowski, 27, had been stabbed several times when she jumped from a moving vehicle in the 3800 block of Krie Trail in West Bexar County, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Gonzales, 27, Milowski’s ex-boyfriend, has been charged with murder in her death. His bail was set at $200,000.

Witnesses who called 911 after they saw Milowski’s escape from the vehicle told deputies she was bleeding heavily when they went to help her until EMS arrived.

Milowski was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:56 p.m., according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies found the vehicle she jumped out of crashed near Salty Marsh and Kennebec Way.

Gonzales was arrested later that night after he was discovered hiding at a home in the 9600 block of Acadian Drive, a block away from where the vehicle crashed.

Milowski was the mother of three children, ages 7-years-old and younger, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

She was sworn in as a corrections officer Friday, according to family.

Salazar said Gonzales was in town for Milowski’s graduation.

“Although they were broken up ... he was here for that,” Salazar said. “Sunday, things got heated for whatever reason and he saw fit to stab her several times and leave her in the street.”

A GoFundMe online fundraiser established for Milowski’s funeral expenses had collected $28,211 as of Tuesday evening.

Salazar urged people in abusive relationships to call the sheriff’s office at 210-335-6070 to speak with a domestic violence victim’s advocate.
