YAKIMA, Wash. — Authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from Yakima County Correctional Center Tuesday morning.
Officers discovered Chad Tipton, 31, and Steven Roche, 31, were missing during a headcount Tuesday morning, KREM reported. During a search, officials found a door leading to the outside that was unsecured. According to the Yakima Herald, the lock on the door failed, leading the men to another open gate. They climbed over an 8- to 10-foot fence along the jail’s property to escape.
Tipton and Roche were transferred to the facility due to overcrowding at Kootenai County Jail in Idaho.
Roche was being held on charges of burglary and grand theft. Tipton was being held on felony charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm where he was involved in a shooting in Idaho, Q13 Fox reported.
Tipton has two clown masks tattooed under his right ear, while Roche has a tattoo of his name on his left shoulder.
Police said they don’t know if the inmates are armed, but they are dangerous.
