BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Five inmates escaped from the Marshall County jail this morning, and three of them are still on the run, authorities said.

The escape happened between 5:30-5:45 a.m., said Heath Thomas, a spokesman for Sheriff Scott Walls. The jail is in Guntersville.

The Guntersville schools superintendent told AL.com news partner WHNT News-19 that the city’s campuses are locked down as authorities search for the escapees.

Brian Eugene White, Benjamin Cameron and Baldemar Davila remain on the run, the sheriff said in a news release.

White, 28, is described as 5 feet 8 inches and about 135 pounds, jail records show. He has blue eyes and black hair, according to his booking records. He was jailed on a bond revocation and a charge of failure to register as a felon.

Cameron, 30, is described as 5 feet 11 inches and about 170 pounds, records show. He has blue eyes and blonde hair, according to jail records. He was jailed on charges of violating probation and failure to appear in theft cases.

Davila, 27, was jailed on charges of violating probation and failing to appear for breaking and entering. He has brown eyes and black hair, records show. He is described in jail records as 5 feet 8 inches and 195 pounds.

The other two escapees--Adam Dean and Damon Dempsey--have been recaptured, Thomas said.

Initially the sheriff’s office announced only four escapees.

“After conducting a complete and through headcount, jail staff reports that another inmate is not accounted for,” Thomas said in an updated news release.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
