ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. — An inmate who escaped from work-release custody Thursday morning was caught in Hampton around 8:45 p.m., according to a news release from the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office.
David Perkins, 24, whose last known address was the 4000 block of Desert Road in Suffolk, allegedly escaped about 7:30 a.m. from the Isle of Wight fairgrounds, where he was working in preparation for next week’s fair.
According to the release, Perkins escaped from a bathroom and was picked up by his girlfriend, Britney Jane Lee, 22, of the 100 block of Shelter Cove Way in Carrollton.
