ATLANTA — Officials say inmates at a federal facility have been escaping and bringing back contraband for years, according to a federal complaint.
According to WSBTV, Atlanta police began investigating the escapes in 2013 after an officer discovered four men in jumpsuits and ski masks near the U.S. Penitentiary prison.
CNN reported that officials found two holes in the fence last year with a prison laundry bag, prison gloves, an MP3 player and trash bags near it.
Authorities set up security cameras last month in an effort to catch an inmate on camera. The complaint was filed after footage captured an inmate attempting to escape Feb. 3, WSBTV reported.
FBI and prison officials are investigating.
