LAKE ANDES, S.D. — Police said an inmate assaulted an officer before escaping from jail and allegedly stealing a car.
Jubal Grant, 19, attacked a corrections officer Wednesday night and escaped from the Charles Mix County Jail, KSFY reported.
Thursday morning, Sheriff Randy Thaler said a silver 2007 Pontiac G6 was reported stolen and the probability Grant stole it is “high.” The keys were left inside the car, according to the sheriff.
Grant is considered dangerous. He was last seen wearing an orange jail uniform and a black shirt, The Grand Forks Herald reported. He is described as a Native American man, 6-foot-1-inch and weighs 170 pounds. Grant was being held on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and bond violations.
Anyone with information is asked to call local police or the Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office at 605-487-7625.
