BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Five inmates are back in custody after using the Marshall County jail’s ventilation system to escape early this morning, authorities said.

Brian Eugene White, Benjamin Justin Cameron, Baldemar Davila, Damon Blade Dempsey and Adam Bouchelhi Dean escaped sometime between 5:30-5:45 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

The escape prompted lock downs at city schools in Guntersville today.

Dean and Dempsey were captured in Guntersville by 7 a.m., said Sheriff Scott Walls in a news release. Authorities said Davila and White were taken into custody at an Altoona home this afternoon, while Cameron was captured in Albertville.

“The inmates escaped the jail by way of the jail ventilation system,” the sheriff’s news release said. “That problem has been identified and the necessary corrections are underway.”

According to jail records:

White, 28, was jailed on a bond revocation and a charge of failure to register as a felon.

Cameron, 30, was jailed on charges of violating probation and failure to appear in theft cases

Davila, 27, was jailed on charges of violating probation and failing to appear for breaking and entering

Dean, 30, was jailed on a prior charge of escape

Dempsey, 22, also was jailed on an escape charge

Authorities haven’t yet announced any new charges in connection with today’s escape.
