Mo. police search for escaped inmate
Bruce Brutsman was taken to a local hospital after allegedly swallowing a battery

CLAYTON, Mo. — St. Louis County police are searching for an escaped inmate, considered armed and dangerous, police said Saturday night.
Bruce Brutsman, 36, an inmate at the St. Louis County Justice Center in Clayton, Mo., was taken to a local hospital Saturday morning after allegedly swallowing a battery, according to a media advisory report.
Brutsman was able to escape from a St. Louis County Correctional Officer while under supervision from medical professionals and fled on foot, police say. Detectives believe he may now be driving a car.

Brutsman is described as 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds and was in custody on burglary and property crime charges. The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and Intelligence Unit assumed the investigation at around 2:30 p.m.
