MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — An inmate awaiting trial on a charge of rape of a minor escaped the Morgan County jail through a window on Sunday.

Jeremy Taylor, of Hartselle, crawled out a single paned window at the jail, according to the department.

“The escaped inmate was able to bust through a window that was previously considered to be securely built into the facility,” the Morgan County Sheriff’s department stated in a Facebook statement Sunday.

The department advised people who believe they have spotted Taylor to call 911 and not to approach him.

Taylor was awaiting trial on charges including rape and sodomy, for sex with a minor, kidnapping, burglary and unlawful possession of controlled substances, according to the department.

The department asks that anyone with information call Morgan County 911 at 256-350-4613.
