NASHVILLE — An inmate required hospitalization after jumping 40 feet into rock quarry during a failed escape attempt.

According to WKRN, 34-year-old Jerry Young and 30-year-old Michael Young removed their restraints while being transported to the Davidson County Male Correctional Development Center on June 11.

As prisoners were exiting the bus, Michael and Jerry fled to a nearby wooded area. Once they reached the bluff, Jerry hesitated and was captured. Michael was captured after the 40-foot jump and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was later released and returned to jail.

Both face additional charges for the escape attempt. Michael was in custody for a probation violation and Jerry was in custody for misdemeanor assault and theft charges, according to the report.
