ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — One of the most overcrowded jails in South Carolina is getting some federal funding to help reimburse the cost of incarcerating of illegal immigrants.

Maj. Garry Bryant, director of the Anderson County Detention Center, said the jail is one of the top five most overcrowded in the state.

Bryant estimates taxpayers pay about $50 a day for an inmate, including the ones who are in the country illegally.
