COOK COUNTY, Ill. — A corrections officer with the Cook County Jail was attacked by two men on his way to work Saturday night.
The Sun Times reports that the officer, in ‘fear of his life,’ fired his weapon three times after the men threw something at him. No one was hit.
After the men were shot at, they jumped into a vehicle and drove away as they shouted ‘gang slogans.’
The two men didn’t get far, as they were apprehended a short time later by officers who worked near the jail and courthouse.
Both have been charged with battery and are due in court.
There was no word if the officer was hurt during the confrontation.
