DES MOINES — Three Iowa state facilities were appointed new leaders this week.

Radio Iowa reports that William Sperfslage was appointed warden of the Anamosa State Penitentiary, which houses up to 1,000 “high risk” offenders; Sheryl Dahm was appointed warden of the Clarinda Correctional Facility, which houses 800 special needs offenders; and Jay Nelson was appointed warden of the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility.

Sperfslage and Nelson both started their careers as frontline staff members in 1979 and 1984 respectively. Dahm has two decades of counseling prison inmates with substance abuse and mental health issues.
