MILLER COUNTY, Ark. — Detention deputies at an Arkansas jail were praised for their actions after they all helped saved the life of an inmate who attempted suicide.
According to the Magnolia Reporter, Sgt. Alan Sanders was conducting a security check on Oct. 31 when he saw an inmate hanging by a bed sheet. The inmate was turning blue in the face, and emergency protocol was initiated.
Several officers who responded cut the inmate free from the bed sheet and administered treatment. The unidentified inmate suffered a burn around his throat from the sheet. The inmate was placed in the facility’s mental health program.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office presented the deputies with a certificate of appreciation for their quick and decisive life-saving actions that prevented a tragedy.
