Corrections officer fired over medical marijuana use

County was aware of prescription, but still could not allow it

BERNALILLO — A Bernalillo corrections officer said he was fired after he tested positive for marijuana. A drug, veteran Augustine Stanley, said he was prescribed to take.

Stanley said after he lost his job, he lost everything.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke to the county attorney about the termination. Randy Autio told KOB 4 the situation is “tough”. Autio said the county understands Stanley had a prescription, but because of his position at the Bernalillo County jail, they couldn’t allow it.
