LOS ANGELES — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from a male community re-entry program facility in Los Angeles.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jory M. Mixon walked away from the facility on Saturday, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Facility staff were notified that Mixon’s GPS device had been tampered with, and when they initiated an emergency count and search, they discovered the device had been discarded and that Mixon was missing.
Mixon is a 5-foot-10, 230 pound Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes.
Mixon, who was serving a sentence for evading an officer while driving recklessly, was scheduled for probationary release in September.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says that the MCRP allows eligible inmates committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community.
