WILL COUNTY, Ill. — A former Will County jail inmate has filed a lawsuit seeking $10 million, and claims a jail guard and nurse refused to help him when he slipped getting out of a transport van, leaving him dangling from his handcuffed wrist.

Mikeren Turner, 44, of Bloomington, Ill., filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 against the jail warden, a correctional officer and a nurse, claiming they didn’t help him after they saw him slip from the van, despite his begging for help.

Turner was handcuffed to another prisoner on Nov. 5 when they were driven from the courthouse to the jail, according to the lawsuit.

It was rainy, and Turner slipped and fell from the back of the van when it was parked at the jail.

“Nurse Bishop” responded to the scene, but refused to help him, stating “I’m not touching him,” according to the lawsuit.
