HUDSON COUNTY — The deputy director of the Hudson County jail has been charged with recording the telephone conversations of fellow employees by using a website which allows a person to call two people and make it appear they called each other, federal officials said.

Kirk Eady, 45, of East Brunswick, is charged with one count of intentionally intercepting the wire, oral or electronic communications of others and made his first court appearance on the charges before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Dickson in Newark federal court today, a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office said.

Between March 2012 and July 2012, Eady used the publicly available websites “Evil Operator” feature to place phone calls to four employees of the Hudson County jail in Kearny and the feature allowed him to conceal who really placed the call, as well as to record the conversations between the victims, according to court documents and statements.
