VALHALLA, N.Y. — Two Westchester County Jail corrections officers were attacked by an inmate with mental health issues Tuesday night.
According to the Journal News, one officer attempted to restrain an inmate in the behavioral unit when the inmate attacked. Another officer came to help and was injured as well, News 12 reported.
Alonzo West, Westchester County Correction Officer Benevolent Association spokesman, told News12 that one officer suffered a broken leg, wrist and hand and will require surgery. The other officer’s injuries are unknown.
An investigation is ongoing.
