TRENTON, N.J. — The inmate who attacked CO Eligia Then at the New Jersey State Prison has been indicted on charges of first-degree attempted murder and first-degree aggravated assault.

Inmate Funquan Alexander is currently serving time for a 2008 carjacking and kidnapping, according to The Star Ledger. He’s since been transferred out of the New Jersey State Prison, allegedly for his own safety.

Alexander attacked CO Then while she was letting inmates out of their cells to shower. Her partner was working on another floor at the time of the assault; other corrections officers were called to the scene when another inmate hit the riot alarm.

CO Then has still not been able to return to work after being hospitalized.
